Community Support

Glenelg Shire Council recognises the importance of providing or advocating for effective services that promote community wellbeing. The Community Development Unit encourages communities within the Glenelg Shire to take collective action and generate solutions to shared problems. It acts on behalf of our communities by advocating needs and preferences to political decision-makers and service providers.

The Unit also provides practical advice and assistance with community capacity building, grants, volunteering, access and inclusion and works with our Aboriginal organisations in implementing the Glenelg Aboriginal Partnership Agreement.

Glenelg Shire Council recognises and values the enormous contribution that volunteers make to our local community.

Interpreter Services

Since 1984 we have provided a directory to provide assistance to visitors and new residents who are struggling with language barriers.
