Council Advisory Committees

Committees exist for a range of reasons associated with conducting the business of Council. To this end, councils establish special and advisory committees, or convene Assemblies of Councilors (aoC), or are a party to external committees to achieve particular outcomes.

The distinction that exists between the two types of committees are an Advisory Committee provides advice and may make recommendations to Council, and a Special Committee has delegated authority from Council, to act on behalf of Council.

At it's meeting held Tuesday 24 January 2017, Council endorsed the appointment of community representatives to serve in a voluntary capacity on several of Council's Advisory Committee's, including (click the hyperlink's below to view the Term's of Reference ToR);

- Volunteering and Wellbeing Advisory Committee

The Glenelg Shire Council Volunteering and Wellbeing Advisory Committee aims to advise Council on community volunteering, health and wellbeing and disability issues in the community.
Its members have significant knowledge and / or interest in volunteering, health and wellbeing and disability issues and the capacity to enhance and strengthen outcomes in these areas within the Glenelg Shire region.
