First Time Parents Groups
Parent groups are offered to all 1st time parents in Victoria through the Maternal and Child Health Service which is funded by state and local governments.
Parents who join a group attend a series of sessions that emphasize parenting skills, relationship development and social support in order to increase confidence and skills in parenting.
Parents benefit from participating in these groups in a number of ways:
- developing social networks
- gaining self-confidence
- through access to relevant information on child health and parenting
If you feel that the sessions would benefit you and you’re not a first time parent please speak to the Maternal & Child and Health team.
The group for 2017 will be running on Thursdays from 2.00pm-3.30pm. Each group runs for 6 weeks focusing on the following topics:
• Women's Health
• Introduction to solids
• Baby Massage
• First aid
• Home safety
• Early Literacy and Play
