Glenelg Shire Council is responsible for the implementation and enforcement of several Acts and Laws to ensure residents and visitors to the Shire enjoy a safe and peaceful environment.
Enforceable Acts include:
Domestic Animals Act 1994 - Dogs and Cats
Country Fire Authority Act 1958 - Fire Prevention
Road Safety Act 1986 and Road Safety Road Rules 2009 - Parking
Impounding of Livestock Act 1994 - Stock at large and property fencing
Council is also responsible for enforcement under the Glenelg Shire Council General Local Law 2008. This includes the regulation of Footpath Trading and Itinerant Traders. The Council Policy for Footpath Trading was adopted at the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 26 August 2014. The Footpath Trading Policy can be found under General Local Laws.
