Danielle Green MP Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria will visit Portland this week to help officially unveil the Portland Industrial Land Strategy & Investment Prospectus.
The Strategy will provide a clear road-map for industrial development in Portland for the next 25 years and beyond.
The launch event of the Strategy, to be hosted by the Department for Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources on Tuesday 14 February, will help to encourage further investment into Portland and the surrounding region.
Glenelg Shire Council Mayor Cr Anita Rank said that the Strategy will ensure that south west Victoria continues to remain a key location for industry and development.
“The work laid out in these documents sends a clear message that Portland is open for business,” she said.
“It supports what is working well for our region, and recommends changes to enhance our competitiveness and potential to attract investment from both the public and private sector.”
The Portland Industrial Land Strategy is the culmination of two years of detailed research, assessment and engagement with the community and key stakeholders.
On the back of this Strategy, council will advocate for public funds to:
• provide the enabling infrastructure to our key industrial precincts;
• pursue changes to the Glenelg Planning Scheme to make council’s local planning policies for industrial land clearer and more targeted to the issues which warrant attention.
