Welcome to the Glenelg Shire Council


Glenelg Shire Council is considering making a new local law to replace the current General Local Law 2008 that is due to expire.

The Local Law covers the following broad areas:
• Environment
• Animals
• Roads and Council Land; and
• Protection of Council Assets and Control of Building Sites.

Council is seeking community feedback on the draft Local Law prior to commencing the formal procedure to make a local law. Council will be undertaking community roadshows to answer questions from interested people. The roadshows in the Council van are planned for:

Thursday 24 August 2017
• Portland – Percy St, (Town Green) 10:00am to 1:00pm
• Heywood – Edgar St, (near IGA supermarket) 3:00pm to 6:00pm

Friday 25 August 2017
• Casterton – 67 Henty St, 10:00am to 2:00pm
• Merino – High St, 3:00pm to 5:00pm

Saturday 26 August 2017
• Portland – Bentinck St (near whale pot), 11:00am to 1:00pm

Thursday 31 August 2017
• Heywood – Edgar St (near post office) 9:00am to 11:00am
• Casterton – 67 Henty St, 2:00pm to 5:00pm

Friday 1 September 2017
• Dartmoor – (near Post Office), 10:00am to 12:00pm
• Nelson – (VIC carpark), 2:00pm to 4:00pm
