The Glenelg Shire Council offers a Best Practice kerbside domestic waste and recyclables collection service in the townships of Portland (including Dutton Way),Cape Bridgewater, Nelson, Narrawong, Heywood, Dartmoor, Casterton, Digby, Merino, Mumbannar and Sandford.

The weekly service is provided to all residents within the designated areas of each town, by a Contractor engaged by Glenelg Shire Council.

Optional Kerbside Recycling for Businesses and Schools
Recipients of the kerbside collection service pay an annual garbage charge over and above their normal Council Rates. For the 2012/2013 financial year the garbage charge is set at $197.00 per annum (Inc. GST).

Residents that do not receive Council's waste collection service may choose to have a collection service provided by a private contractor. Refer to the Telstra Yellow Pages for listings of Waste Collection Contractors.
