MEDIA RELEASE - Twilight cinema temporarily finds new home

16 June 2017

Portland’s Twilight Cinema has temporarily found a new home at the Portland Civic Hall, allowing movie lovers to continue to enjoy watching the latest releases on the big screen in an even bigger venue.

Leading up to two weekends of live performances at the Portland Arts Centre, Twilight Cinemas decided to utilise their mobile cinema service and relocate to the Portland Civic Hall until the 26th June.

Andrew Taylor of Twilight Cinemas said that the temporary move was a great opportunity to test new spaces in Portland.

“The Civic Hall is an iconic venue in the shire with a vast seating capacity and an open atmosphere, so it will be good chance to use the space for a cinema experience,” he said.

“The relocation also provides us an opportunity to step back from usual cinema operations and enhance our mobile service operation, identifying any possible efficiencies or improvements that can be made.

“It is exciting to see that the Portland Arts Centre will be hosting so many live shows in the next two weeks, it just goes to show how much quality entertainment is on offer in the region.

“I would once again like to thank council for all of their support in helping the Twilight Cinemas to operate out of the arts centre and for their continued assistance in scheduling both performances and movie sessions for residents to enjoy.”

Movie-goers are advised that there will be minimal disruption to the cinema timetable, with new releases The Mummy, Despicable Me 3 and the latest instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise to be screened over the next fortnight.
