MEDIA RELEASE - All roads and rivers lead to Nelson

13 March 2018

The third annual Road2River festival will once again return to the Nelson riverbanks on Saturday 24 March, offering eventgoers a weekend of diverse entertainment, markets and exhibitions.

Festival organiser Donna Fry said a particular highlight for this year was the impressive line-up of live music, with The Voice finalist Michael Stangel headlining the event.

“Fans of Michael will recognise him from the second series of The Voice and his cover of Phillips Phillips hit Home Home, which debuted at number 5 on the iTunes Singles Chart,” she said.

“We are also pleased to welcome back crowd favourite The Go Set. The Melbourne based band have a loyal following and have toured across the globe, they are a huge drawcard for the festival.”

“Alongside Michael and The Go Set, attendees will also enjoy a whole day of performances, including popular local musician Josh Raiwiri, Mount Gambier based cover band Calamari for Breakfast and Casterton rising star Kimberley Gill.

“The quality and diversity of entertainment this year is really exciting and with live music being performed across three separate stages all day and night, there is sure to be something that appeals to all generations of music lovers.”

Ms Fry also noted the array of family friendly activities on offer.

“Live music is just one component of Road2River – families can enjoy markets, art and craft exhibitions, whale boat races, joy flights and much more,” she said.

Glenelg Shire Mayor Cr Anita Rank said that whilst the festival was still in its infancy, it was fast becoming an iconic event for the Glenelg Shire.

“Nelson already has a strong reputation as a much-loved holiday destination, and this event will only help to attract further visitation to the area,” she said.

“The festival will only continue to get bigger and it will soon become a permanent calendar fixture for tourists, both local and inter-state.”

The Nelson Road 2 River festival will take place from 11am on Saturday 24 March and will continue through to 11pm.
