MEDIA RELEASE - Comedy roadshow on route to Heywood

15 May 2018

Community members are invited to a night of nonstop hilarity and entertainment as the freshest and funniest talent from Australia’s largest comedy festival heads to Heywood.

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow will once again grace the stage and fill the room at Heywood Community Hall on Sunday 27 May from 7pm, and will feature popular Australian comedians such as Nath Valvo and Rhys Nicholson.

Festival producer Kylie Mitchell said the team were thrilled to return to Heywood in 2018 follow the success of last year’s sell out event.

“The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is Australia’s largest cultural event and one of the top three comedy festivals in the world and we are delighted to be able to bring this iconic showcase of comedy to regional townships such as Heywood,” she said.

“Featuring fantastic funny makers from Australia, this year’s program promises to once again delight audiences. It’s stand-up, sketch, satire, silliness and song all in one side-splitting show.”

Glenelg Shire arts and culture manager Susie Lyons said community members could enjoy a ‘complete event package’, with food, drink and travel options on offer as part of the event.

“We have organised the complete night out for guests so all that they have to do is sit back and enjoy a night of nonstop laughs,” she said.

“The Taco Truck will be selling an array of delicious hot food items and the Heywood Football Netball Club will be providing a barbecue and a range of beverages with all funds going directly back to the club.

“Furthermore, buses will be leaving from Portland to make it easier for people to come and enjoy a night out of comedy without the stress of arranging travel. With the show starting at 7pm, guests can be tucked up in bed by 10pm still giggling from the show - it will be the perfect way to finish off the weekend.”

Comedians for the 19th Comedy Roadshow in Heywood include:
• Daniel Connell
• Nath Valvo
• Dilruk Jayasinha
• Nikki Britton
• Rhys Nicolson
