MEDIA RELEASE - Kindergarten Enrolment Week fast approaching

12 July 2018

Families looking to enrol their children in kindergarten or pre-kindergarten programs for next year are reminded to secure their place during the upcoming Enrolment Week period.

Enrolments for Glenelg Shire Council managed pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs for 2019 will be open during 23 July – 27 July, the official Enrolment Week. During this time parents and caregivers will be invited to submit the required enrolment information.

Glenelg Shire Council children’s services manager Janine Johnstone said kindergarten was an important step for young children.

“Not only will it help to prepare them for school, it will also provide them vital skills that they will build on throughout their life, such as communication, independence and problem solving,” she said.

“Children will be able to make friends and enjoy the stimulating educational activities that our high quality kindergarten programs have to offer, such as pre literacy and numeracy experiences, art, stories, music and movement.

“With kindergarten programs offered throughout the shire, there is bound to be a service for your child close to home. I hope to see all pre-school children in the shire enrolled in kindergarten programs for 2019 so that our region’s youngest community members have the brightest future possible.”

The 2019 four year-old kindergarten program will be offered at:
• Heywood Kindergarten
• Jaycee Kindergarten, Portland
• Kalbarri Kindergarten, Portland
