MEDIA RELEASE - Glenelg Libraries reopens with click and collect

3 June 2020

Glenelg Libraries’ members rejoice - members are now able to borrow books, DVDs, audio books and magazines following the introduction of a new ‘Click and Collect’ service this week.

A Click and Collect service will be offered across all Glenelg Libraries branches from Thursday 4 June, allowing members to reconnect with their local service and borrow physical items.

Library and Information Services Manager Yvette Parker said she was thrilled to welcome back members to enjoy the borrowing process.

“Libraries play such a vital role in supporting our community and it is fantastic to be back providing resources and physical library items to our many loyal members,” she said.

“Like other businesses and services across the region, we are learning to adapt so we can continue to deliver essential services to our communities. This new Click and Collect service will allow members to access resources for work, study, their family or for their own enjoyment, whilst the safety remains paramount.

“To take part in the service, simply place a hold through our online catalogue. If you prefer you can call us directly to place a hold an item, or ask us for a recommendation.

“Library staff will then make contact to organise a mutually convenient time for you to collect books or other resources such as DVDs, magazines and the like – it’s that easy.”

To ensure that materials are safe to borrow, all returned items will be quarantined for at least 3 days before being returned to circulation.

For more information on the Click and Collect Service and other resources available to library members please visit the Glenelg Library website.

How Click and Collect works:
1. Log-in, search the online catalogue, and place a hold. Choose items from a Glenelg Libraries branch.
2. If you prefer, call the Glenelg Libraries team on 5522 2265 to make a selection.
3. The Libraries team will call you to let you know when and where your item is ready for collection.
4. Collect your item.
5. To return an item, place it in your library’s after-hours chute.

Please note: Click & Collect is only available via this process. Please don’t visit your local library unless staff have contacted you and invited you to collect an item.
