MEDIA RELEASE - Community events on showcase as part of new entrance signage

21 December 2017

Community events signage

Heywood and Casterton event organisers will now have access to unparalleled marketing with the unveiling of new community event signage.

Event signage has been installed in both Heywood and Casterton, highlighting the myriad of community events to all visitors and regulars on immediate entry into the townships.

Glenelg Shire Mayor Anita Rank said the signage not only provided a fresh new look for the towns’, it also enhanced the marketing opportunities for local event organisers.

“The new signage will allow our hard-working event organisers across our region to advertise to a broader audience without the hefty price tag,” Cr Rank said.

“These new signs will help promote local events, share resources and most importantly, link our community with what’s happening in their town. Heywood and Casterton will be on showcase to all those travelling through the area this summer.”

Cr Rank encouraged community groups to get their event signage prepared for display, with vacant spots ready to be filled.

“The signs, which are of a similar design to our new Portland entry signs, are all set to advertise your next community event,” she said.

“Just as the Portland signage reflects the theme of whales and nature based tourism, the Heywood and Casterton signs also have their own distinct themes.

“The Casterton signage celebrates the region’s status as the birthplace of the Kelpie, with etchings of the working dog reflected in the art, and the Heywood sign nods to the town’s most iconic event, the Wood Wine and Roses Festival.

“If you are organising an event in Casterton or Heywood in 2018, make sure you plan ahead to utilise the new signage – you are guaranteed to reach a whole new audience base.”

Event organisers wishing to place a sign in either Heywood or Casterton are invited to contact council on 1300 GLENELG or by emailing with the subject title COMMUNITY EVENT SIGNAGE.
