Pension Concessions

Persons holding one of the following eligible pensioner concession cards may be entitled to a rebate from their Council rates:

  • Pensioner Concession Card issued by Centrelink or Department of Veterans’ Affairs
  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card - War Widow (WW)
  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card - Totally and Permanently Incapacitated (TPI)

Pensioner concession only applies to eligible pensioners who are permanent residents of a property within the Glenelg Shire.

 Please Note: A Health Care Card does not entitle the holder to a rate reduction.

To apply for a pensioner concession, please see the steps below. Your application for concession must be received prior to 30 June. A copy of your concession card must accompany your application.

Step 1.Eligible Concession Cards

Ensure that you hold either:

  • an eligible Pensioner Concession Card issued by Centrelink of the Department of Veteran Affairs
  • Department of Veteran Affairs Gold Card - War Widow
  • Department of Veteran Affairs Gold Card - Totally and Permanently Incapacitated (TPI)

Step 2.Check your Rates Notice and eligible Concession Card

You can only apply for a Pensioner Concession if the name and address listed on your Rates Notice matches the name and address on your Pensioner Concession Card.

Step 3.Download and Print the Pensioner Concession Form

Step 4.Return the completed form

All completed forms must be returned to a Council Customer Service Centre.

You must also bring with you a copy of your eligible Pensioner Concession Card. Please ensure that this card is signed.
