South West District Forecast

Weather Situation
A low pressure system centred off the northern N.S.W coast is expected to move
slowly southeastwards across the Tasman Sea on Friday. A high pressure system
over the western Bight extends a ridge across Tasmania. The ridge will move
northeastwards across Victoria on Friday as a weakening cold front passes
through Bass Strait. The high will move from the Bight to lie near Adelaide by
late Saturday then move slowly towards Victoria on Sunday as further fronts
embedded in southwesterly flow cross Tasmania. On Monday the high will move to
the east of Tasmania by late in the day.

Forecast for the rest of Thursday 23 May
Clear. Winds southeasterly 15 to 20 km/h becoming light in the late evening.

Forecast for Friday 24 May
Partly cloudy. Areas of frost and patchy fog in the morning. Isolated showers
from the late morning, contracting to the southeast during the evening. Light
winds becoming west to southwesterly 15 to 20 km/h in the middle of the day
then becoming west to northwesterly and light in the evening. Overnight
temperatures falling to between 1 and 5 with daytime temperatures reaching
around 16.

Forecast for Saturday 25 May
Partly cloudy. Patchy fog in the west early in the morning. Isolated showers
near the coast, extending throughout from the early morning. Winds westerly 15
to 20 km/h, increasing to 25 to 35 km/h in the middle of the day, then easing
to 10 to 20 km/h during the evening. Overnight temperatures falling to between
5 and 9 with daytime temperatures reaching around 16.

Forecast for Sunday 26 May
Cloudy. Isolated showers in the south, extending throughout by the afternoon.
Winds west to southwesterly and light increasing to 15 to 25 km/h during the
morning then becoming light during the evening. Overnight temperatures falling
to between 6 and 10 with daytime temperatures reaching around 16.

Forecast for Monday 27 May
Morning fog patches in the north. A partly cloudy day. Isolated showers
clearing by the evening. Light winds. Overnight temperatures falling to between
4 and 8 with daytime temperatures reaching around 16.
