Yarraman Park Equestrian Facilities

Our slice of equine paradise by the sea.

Yarraman Park is a public access horse complex that caters for horse enthusiasts, riding clubs, instructors and clinicians. There is a strong local equine community who use these facilities on a regular basis.

We are proud hosts of the Portland Adult Riding Club (PADARC), Portland Pony Club and the Barrel Racing Club who all host regular rallies, clinics and seminars.

Yarraman Park has a number of day yards, undercover stalls, wash bay, trotting track, polo fields, round yard and fully enclosed indoor arena 30x60.

INSURANCE

Council encourages all riders have adequate insurance cover through their affiliated organisations/clubs. Riders are required to provide a copy of the certificate of currency.

Instructors must have adequate cover through Equestrian Australia (EA) or alike that covers horse and rider during paid lessons. This allows riders without insurance to access instructors. The instructors make the arena booking.

Riders without insurance will need to pay a day levy of $10 to hire the arena privately.

Arena Preparations

Hirers (FULL DAY)

There is a wire grate available to smooth the surface as required.

Hirers will need to use their own machinery / vehicle to tow the wire gate

Alternatively PADARC is available to prepare the arena for outside hirers if required at an additional cost. Please contact PADARC view their website for costs. (PADARC),

Outdoor Yards

Yarraman Park has a large number of outdoor yards available for saddling up or for short term stays. The single rail yards are 3m x 3m in size.

There is also a small number of undercover day stalls to protect you from the elements whilst saddling up for riding.

We ask that the yards and stalls be left as you found them, cleaned out and all bedding cleared completely before you leave. You are required to provided your own bedding for your horse.

Wash Bays

There are 3 wash bays at the south side of the indoor arena and 1 behind the sand roll located near the trotting track.

Cold washes are free of charge for all arena users. We ask you to please clean up after your horse.

Lighting switches to the wash bays on the south side can be located in the indoor arena.

Sand Roll

A fully enclosed round yard with heavy duty rubber lining to ensure your horses safety while they cool and rest.

Open Spaces

Yarraman Park has large areas of open spaces to ride your horse.

The park boasts two spacious polocrosse fields and a training trotting track.

During the winter months the Park becomes extremely wet and we ask that riders do not ride on the polocrosse fields.

Parking

During the winter months the polocrosse field is not accessible for parking due to potential bogging.

We ask that equestrian users try and stay on higher grounds in wet conditions.

The Park is shared with other clubs (for example the Go Karts). If parking is required in the Go Kart area - equestrian users are required to clean up all hay and manure etc.
