Australia Day, January 26, is observed as a public holiday in all states and territories.
There are so many great things about our country; the people, the land, our diversity, our indigenous cultures, our freedom and democracy and our enduring spirit of mateship and fairness.
The Glenelg Shire helps you to recognise this day by hosting Australia Day Celebrations in Casterton and Portland. These events include the presentations of the Citizen of the Year Awards.
Council also supports community organised activities in Heywood, Merino and Nelson.
