Are you part of Portland’s CBD traffic – including vehicles, wheelchairs, pedestrians, cyclists, e-mobility, e-bikes and or e-scooters?

Then this is your opportunity to help make the Portland CBD/ Medical precinct traffic network safer.

Earlier this year Council was successful in obtaining a grant from the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) to review all types of traffic in the precinct and design safety improvements including safer roads, paths, linkages and intersections. some

Council is seeking the community’s input on traffic concerns and experiences for consideration to form part of the Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) scheme.

Community input will then be used to develop a safer traffic/pedestrian/cycling/e-mobility culture by developing functional designs that can inform and support future grant applications and/or works.

The survey closes midnight, 16 September 2024.

Hard copy surveys are available from the Portland Customer Service Centre at 71 Cliff Street, Portland.

Projects funded through the TAC grant program must use Safe System principles with a focus on reducing crashes involving pedestrians and cyclists, those most vulnerable to trauma on our roads.

The Safe System is a holistic approach to road safety that recognises different elements of the road environment must work together to keep everyone safe - these elements include roads and roadsides, vehicles, travel speeds, and road users.
