Prevention of Violence Against Women and Children

Violence against women and children has been identified as a health issue for many women and children in the community. The best way to prevent violence against women and children is through the promotion of gender equality, women’s empowerment and their enjoyment of human rights. Making public areas and the home safe for women ensures economic autonomy and security and increases participation and decision making powers in relationships, public life and politics.

Policies for prevention of violence against women and children already exist at a national and state level. The Strategy brings the Great South Coast into synergy with this work, and positions the organisations to access potential funding opportunities and the support that would provide.
