Fire Services Property Levy (FSPL)

Fire Services Property Levy

In July 2013 the Victorian Government introduce the Fire Services Property Levy.

All Victorian Councils are required to collect the levy on behalf of the State Government. The levy is not Council revenue and all payments received are transferred to the Victorian Government.

This new property based fire levy funds the operations of Victoria’s fire services (the MFB and CFA) as recommended by the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission. It will replace the existing insurance based funding model.

For further information and details on the levy calculation please click here to be directed to the Fire Service Levy website.

If you are being charged a fire services levy on your insurance policy after 30 June 2013 you should contact Consumer Affairs on 1300 558 181.
