MEDIA RELEASE - Hashtag to win at Hooked on Portland

19 January 2018

Win cash prizes and two nights’ accommodation at QUEST Portland Apartments by simply exploring Portland at the Hooked on Portland festival this Australia Day long weekend.

Hooked on Portland will be running a ‘Explore Portland’ destination competition, which will see attendees competing to locate various hotspots around the festival where they will need to collect a stamp and take a ‘selfie’ at the location and upload to Instagram using the hashtag #hookedonportland.

Glenelg Shire Council Mayor Cr Anita Rank said the competition would be a great way to promote Portland while giving tourists and locals the opportunity to discover our town.

“It would be great to host the competition over the entire shire to showcase all of our beautiful attractions, however the competition locations must be in walking distance of each other,” Cr Rank said.

“Competitors will be given a Hooked on Portland show bag full of goodies when they register, including a festival schedule, site map and ‘passport’ including instructions, prizes and a page dedicated to each location.”

The competition will run from 10am to 6pm on Saturday 27 with registrations at the Portland Foreshore. Winners will be announced the following day at 10:30am at the Community Big Breaky hosted by the Portland Lions Club.

Cr Rank said council expects the three-day seaside festival would attract thousands of visitors from across the border and around the state.

“Hooked on Portland will be the only festival of its kind this Australia Day long weekend and will showcase local talent and vendors, as well as having attracted well-known live entertainment acts,” she said.

“With only days to go, I encourage everyone to ensure they have locked in their accommodation and enjoy the weekend here in our beautiful shire.”
