MEDIA RELEASE - Glenelg Shire 2040 out for community comment

13 January 2020

Following extensive community consultation, a launch event headlined by renowned futurists and collaborative input from community reference groups, the Glenelg Shire is excited to launch the draft of it’s very first community plan – Glenelg Shire 2040 Community Plan & Vision.

The key strategic document outlines Council’s commitments to the community’s vision for the next 20 years, shaping future investments in community assets, technology, programs and more.

The draft document is now out for public exhibition, with Council calling on community members to leave their feedback on the shared vision for the Shire’s future.

“This plan captures our community’s long-term vision and goals for creating an even brighter
future. It has been written by the community, for the community,” said Mayor Cr Anita Rank.

“We thank and acknowledge the more than 1,600 people that shared their comments and ideas over the past 12 months, helping us to understand what the key priorities are for our Shire for the next 20 years.

“We also take this opportunity to thank the members of our four Community Reference Groups, who played an important role in shaping the visions for each region and guiding the development of this draft plan.

“Our hope is that this document inspires and guides members of the community - residents, businesses and visitors alike - to work together to make this future vision of ours a reality.

“I encourage each and every community member to take the time to read this important document before the end of February. We need your feedback to ensure we have a shared future that will continue to make the Glenelg Shire a great place to live, work, study, invest and play.”
