Welcome to the Glenelg Shire Council

Portland Dog Park

The canines of Glenelg Shire now have an off-lead dog park to call their own, with Portland’s first ever enclosed dog park constructed at Henty Park, open from 7am - 7pm.

The new space features two separate enclosures to accommodate for both large and small dogs, and boasts native trees, a sand pit, agility equipment, and a range of surfaces such as gravel, crushed rock and lawn.

The park also includes waste bins, dog bag dispensers, drinking fountains, bench seating and shade sails.

Rules of Entry - Small Dog Park

The small dog park is open for dogs under 10kgs.

- Ensure your dog is under constant supervision and voice control
- Please make sure you are actively watching your dog at all times.
- All dogs entering must be vaccinated and desexed to protect the health and safety of all
- Two dogs per owner
- We recommend children do not enter the park when there are unknown dogs using the space
- Bring treats for your dog only - no other food to be consumed in the park
- Prior to exiting the park, please ensure your dog is on a lead
- Please use the compostable and biodegradable dog bags provided when picking up waste in the park. The waste receptacles are designed to dispose of waste in a eco-friendly way and normal dog bags will not breakdown.
- For the enjoyment of all, please remove your dog if it exhibits anti-social behaviour
- Ensure you use the gates correctly when entering or exiting the parks so no dogs can escape the enclosures.

It is everyone’s responsibility to keep the park clean of dog poo and rubbish and ensure the parks are an attractive place for dogs and people.
