Welcome to the Glenelg Shire Council

MEDIA RELEASE - No changes to Council facilities

22 October 2021

Community members can be assured they will still be able to access Glenelg Shire Council services and facilities from today, regardless of their current vaccination status.

New changes to density quotients have been introduced across the state based on vaccination status, however there will be no immediate changes to Council-run services and community facilities.

Glenelg Shire Mayor Cr Anita Rank said many community members still required time to reach their second vaccination dose

“Existing density quotients and caps will remain in place across all Council run facilities until the state-wide 80 per cent vaccination target is reached,” she explained.

“This will afford our community the time they need to ensure that their second dose vaccine has been administered prior to the widely communicated vaccination mandates.

“Currently only 73.5% of the eligible Glenelg Shire population are fully vaccinated and we want to ensure our residents can still access all the services they need.

“Given mandatory changes will be in effect once the 80% target is reached, I encourage all those who haven’t booked their vaccination appointment to do so as quickly as possible to ensure they can continue to access Council services in the future.”
