Beauty Therapists, Hairdressers, Body Art (e.g. tattoos, body piercing, etc) and Colonic Irrigation establishments within the Glenelg Shire are all required to be registered with the Council. These industries must comply with the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2009. Physical therapy establishments are not required to be registered with Council. Radiation equipment (e.g. Solariums) is required to be registered with the Department of Health.
From 1 March 2016, eligible businesses – those that solely provide hairdressing and/or low risk beauty therapy services at their premises are able to apply for "on-going" registration. Low risk beauty therapy includes the application of the following:
1. temporary make up;
2. henna tattoos;
3. spray tans; and
4. eyelash and eyebrow tinting
