MEDIA RELEASE - A perfect score for council support services

Glenelg Shire Council has been recognised for its outstanding service delivery after receiving a perfect score on a national quality review.

Council’s Aged & Disability Services Unit recently achieved the highest possible score on the Australian Homecare Standards Audit and Quality Review.

The score of 18 out of 18 means that the Glenelg Shire is 100 per cent compliant across the national service standards.

Glenelg Shire Council Director Community Services Edith Farrell said the results were a testament to the ongoing dedication and thoroughness of staff.

“I am delighted to share the news that our Aged and Disability staff have once again excelled and have received a perfect score for their efforts in providing essential services to the community,” she said.

“This score is known to be much higher than a number of other regional and even metropolitan councils; the Glenelg Shire is now recognised as leading the way in the aged and disability sector.

“Residents can be assured that they are receiving the highest quality service possible.

“I would like to thank and congratulate all of the staff involved for their ongoing contributions and efforts in achieving this fantastic outcome. Their commitment to continuous improvement and improving the lives of community members has been recognised on a national scale.”

The Homecare Standards Audit and Quality Review was undertaken by a national Government agency, the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency, and the review was carried out by an independent assessment team.

The aim of the review process was to assess the adequacy of council’s aged care service delivery, including management and administration policies.

The quality review is undertaken every three years across Australian councils.
