MEDIA RELEASE - Business owners invited to Portland brand workshop

Learn how your business can benefit from the iconic Great Ocean Road brand at an interactive workshop later this month.

Tourism and business operators are invited to the Portland Brand Toolkit Workshop on Tuesday 29 August from 12.30pm at the Richmond Henty Blue Room, where the new #iamportland brand film will be officially launched.

Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism general manager Liz Price will teach operators, in a fast paced two hour lunch session, how they can benefit from the new #iamportland brand campaign and associated marketing opportunities using the Great Ocean Road platform.

Glenelg Shire Mayor Cr Anita Rank said the council’s association with the Great Ocean Road network was providing access to more than 100,000 unique views each month, which local operators could leverage from.

She said the Great Ocean Road website was the most sought after page for travellers researching the iconic touring route.
“This workshop will show our local operators how they can use the digital platform to engage their business with this growing base online marketplace,” Cr Rank said.

“This unique Portland brand was established over the past 12 months, providing travellers with an emotional attachment to our town, linking our spectacular marine experiences and rich cultural heritage.

“Operators have the chance to use this branding in their own marketing material, such as on their website or social media, linking their business to the recognised #iamportland brand.

“Operators will be provided with practical tools and advice on how to use the Portland brand to their advantage, leveraging the strength of the Great Ocean Road to attract new business and tourism trade.”

Cr Rank said operators could frame their businesses as signature Portland experiences on the new Portland Great Ocean Road website, which will be released later this year.

“Business owners will learn the best tips to increase their online marketing power using this unique brand to link with a wider social media base. From learning how to create engaging content, to the tone of voice and use of hashtags – the GORRT team will show the best ways to stay front and centre in this busy digital world,” Cr Rank said.

Council will provide every participant at the workshop with the Portland brand tool kit valued at $100 which provides access to Great Ocean Road images, the brand video, logos and suggested wording.
