MEDIA RELEASE - Hooked on Portland attracts stellar live entertainment acts

Hooked on Portland festival’s headlining live entertainment acts, The Pierce Brothers and Louise Adams and The Lost Era will attract crowds from around the state and across the border for the Australia Day long weekend.

The Hooked on Portland three-day festival which will be held at the Portland Foreshore over the Australia Day long weekend will feature a line-up of local musicians as well as international touring acts.

Glenelg Shire Council Mayor Cr Anita Rank said headline act The Pierce Brothers along with X Factor 2015 finalist, Louise Adams would be a major highlight of the festival.

Louise Adams, who is based in Mount Gambier, said she was keen to be performing at the Hooked on Portland Festival.

“The artists coming out of both our region and being attracted to perform here are of a stellar quality, and Hooked on Portland is a fantastic showcase of this,” Louise said.

“As a local regional musician, I feel so passionate about events like Hooked On Portland, not just as a performer but as a music appreciator. This is such a great opportunity to see our region's talent and be inspired by visiting musicians.

“Music and the arts are a fantastic way of bringing the community together, inspiring residents of all ages to enjoy what we have to offer as a region, all within the spectacular natural backdrop we are lucky to have here.

“Music by the ocean, what's not to love,” she added.

Cr Rank said the three-day festival would also showcase local talented musicians the Settlement, Jason Bull, Since Tuesday and father-son duo, Dean and Kane Outtram.

“The shire is a talented community, and we are lucky to be able to draw on a variety of local talent when we have community events like Hooked on Portland,” she said.

“The festival will also see live entertainment from Sal Kimber and The Rollin’ Wheel, Mark Lang, This Way North, and Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown on Saturday 27 January.

“Melbourne based act, The Great Gizmo will also be at the foreshore entertaining children from 3 to 4pm.”
