MEDIA RELEASE - Have your say on Access and Inclusion Plan

20 February 2018

Community members are invited to have their say on access and inclusion in the Glenelg Shire as part of the development of a new action plan.

The Glenelg Shire Council is currently preparing the 2018 - 2021 Access and Inclusion (Disability) Action Plan and is seeking feedback on what residents would like to see prioritised.

Glenelg Shire community services director Edith Farrell said the plan will outline councils vision for building a more equal and inclusive shire over the next four years.

“The Glenelg Shire Council is committed to the elimination of discrimination towards people with disabilities,” she said.

“To help us stay on track we are updating our Access and Inclusion (Disability) Action Plan. Under this plan we commit to reducing barriers for people with disabilities, promoting inclusion and participation in the community and achieving tangible change in attitudes and practices which discriminate against people with disabilities.

“Community members can contribute to the plan by completing the online survey or the quick poll, or even both. All feedback received will help us prioritise our focus areas and further develop the plan.

“We thank residents for their input and support to progress this very important work.”

There a number of ways in which community members can provide their feedback including:

• Your Say Glenelg: complete the online survey (discussion paper) and/or complete the quick poll online at

• Phone: phone 1300GLENELG (1300 453 635) for help to complete the survey or to arrange for a hard copy version to be sent to your residential address.
