MEDIA RELEASE - Heywood youth crew present Winterfest

19 July 2018

Put on your winter woollies, gather your friends and enjoy some of the region’s best local talent at Heywood’s Winterfest later this month.

The town’s Youth Action Crew have partnered with the Glenelg Shire Youth team to recruit top acts including Soulsleuth and Maton Season for the youth event on Friday 27 July at the Heywood Football Netball Clubrooms.

Over four and half hours these top local artists will share the stage with nine other acts performing a variety of music to suit all tastes.

The Glenelg Shire youth event, proudly supported by the State Government’s Freeza program, is open to youth aged from 12 to 18.

Event coordinator Glenelg Shire Youth project officer Hara Carragher praised the efforts of the Heywood teenagers for creating a quality youth event.

“Whilst council has provided a guiding hand with the hard working students who are on the Heywood Youth Action Crew, the foundations of this event have been inspired and created by these talented committee members,” Ms Carragher said.

“Many of these acts play top local venues during their regular gigs and they have willingly put up their hand to ensure local youth can enjoy their performances.

“We are also extremely grateful to the Heywood Football Netball Club for their support by sharing their facility and volunteers to support our evening.”

Soulsleuth singer songwriter Melissa Francis has engaged her talented singing school students to feature throughout the evening, including Diamonds at Twilight, featuring Emmerson Huf and Elizabeth Broom. Also sharing the stage are talented local performers Annalise Outtram, Nakita Elder, Kassandra Galea, Talei Malady, Sasha Wright and Sara Whitbourn.

Doors open from 6pm with tickets available at the door for $8. Food and soft drink will be available for purchase on the night, which is fully supervised, alcohol and drug free, with strictly no pass-outs.
