MEDIA RELEASE - Take a virtual tour of your local early learning centre

4 December 2018

Families can now take a virtual tour of their local early childhood education and care service from the comfort of their own home as part of a new digital campaign launched by the Glenelg Shire Children’s Services team.

Education and care services from across the shire are being showcased in a series of online videos, which highlight the exceptional facilities and programs on offer for children and their families.

Children’s services manager Janine Johnstone said the videos would provide a unique insight into the individual offerings of each service.

“Choosing the right kindergarten or childcare centre is a big decision for any household, families need to feel confident that their child will be safe, secure and happy in their early learning program,” she said.

“These new videos will allow families to see the quality services on offer through council’s early year’s programs and how this can best suit the needs of their child.

“The best part is that families can watch these videos online from the palm of their hand, at a time convenient to them, alleviating any burdens such as travel and time.”

Ms Johnstone said the videos would be an optimal resource for families still looking to enrol their children in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten or long day care in 2019.

“We still have some vacancies available across a number of our programs for 2019,” she said.

“For families interested in long day care, both the Portland Child and Family Complex and Kathleen Millikan Centre in Casterton have limited places available. For those wishing to secure a spot for their child in pre-kindergarten, Heywood Kindergarten and Kalbarri Kindergarten have limited places available.

“There are also spots still open for education and care at Dartmoor Early Learning Centre for children aged six weeks through to school age. If you wish to enrol your child, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the Children’s Services team today on 5522 2211.”
