Waste and Recyclables Kerbside Collection

The Glenelg Shire Council offers a Best Practice kerbside domestic waste and recyclables collection service in the townships of Portland (including Dutton Way),Cape Bridgewater, Nelson, Narrawong, Heywood, Dartmoor, Casterton, Digby, Merino, Mumbannar and Sandford.

The weekly service is provided to all residents within the designated areas of each town, by a Contractor engaged by Glenelg Shire Council.

Collection Service

The kerbside collection service is provided to all residents within the designated areas of each town, by a Contractor engaged by Glenelg Shire Council. The service can include a mix of a 120L waste bin collected weekly and a 240L recycle bin collected fortnightly. Residents in the compulsory town zones must have at least one waste bin and one recycle bin. To check what day your bin is collected, refer to the kerbside collection calendar.

Recipients of the kerbside collection service pay an annual garbage charge over and above their normal Council Rates. For the 2018/2019 financial year the annual garbage charge is set at $166.80 (inc GST) per waste bin and $108.90 (inc GST) per recycle bin.

Residents that do not receive Council's waste collection service may choose to have a collection service provided by a private contractor. Refer to the Telstra Yellow Pages for listings of Waste Collection Contractors.

Optional Kerbside Collection Service
