We’re teaming up with the Portland Sports Fishing Club for a feel-good, hands-on event as part of Coastcare Victoria’s “Summer by the Sea”!

In the weeks leading up, you’re invited to collect a bag of rubbish, driftwood and old fishing gear from beaches, favourite fishing spots or your own shed. Bring your “trash” on event day and help turn it into something worthwhile—recycled materials, re-purposed creations or re-homed gear for young anglers.

• Tackle Loop recycling display – learn how fishing waste becomes new products.
• Driftwood Fish Hotel building – take home for your pond or dam.
• Creative craft table using plastics, rope, nets and more.
• Re-homing station for unwanted but usable fishing gear.
• Giveaways & family-friendly activities.

When & where

Date: Sunday 18 January 2026
Session 1: 9am – 12pm AEDT
Session 2: 1pm – 4pm AEDT

What to bring

• Closed-toe shoes.
• Hat and sunscreen.
• Drink bottle.
• Your bag of collected rubbish.
