Immunisation

Vaccination against diseases not only protects individuals, but also others in the community.  In Australia, the prevalence of deaths from tetanus, diphtheria, Haemophilus influenzae type b and measles is very rare. This is due to the high infant and school age vaccination rates.

The quickest way to get your child’s statement is by using your Medicare online account through myGov or the Express Plus Medicare mobile app.

Secondary School Program

The vaccines that are currently provided to secondary school students free of charge under the National Immunisation Program are;
 
Year 7 Secondary school (or age equivalent, 12-13 years of age)
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV) - 1 dose course
  • Diphtheria- tetanus- pertussis - single dose
Year 10 Secondary School (or age equivalent, 14-16 years of age)
  • Meningococcal ACWY - single dose
Secondary school immunisation sessions are held at each school within the Glenelg Shire Council. If your child has been absent from school during the immunisation session please contact your local GP to arrange a catch up vaccination.
