Communication Boards

Communication Boards are one of the many initiatives and resources to help enhance the Glenelg Shire’s position as a welcoming, accessible and inclusive place for all members of our community.

Playground Communication Boards are a large board in selected accessible playgrounds in our Shire. Instructions for use are included on the playground communication boards, including a QR code that users can scan and walk around the playground with the downloaded playground communication board on their personal device. A link to all playground communication boards is available on this page so caregivers can print or download the board before visiting. The first playground communication board has been installed in the Pulambeet All Abilities Play Space located on the Portland Foreshore. After recent consultation with community, the next board will be installed at Island Park Children's Playground in Casterton with further boards being erected at Apex Park in Heywood and Bridge Park in Nelson.

Communication Board Flip Books are available at all of our Customer Service Centres to allow for a varied communication method. These boards utilise symbols and images to help customers communicate what services they require assistance with.
