Strategic Planning

Council’s Strategic Planning team is responsible for assisting in the preparation and review of strategic land use plans and policies. These are designed to manage development, provide for sustainable growth, and preserve the character of Glenelg Shire.
The Glenelg Planning Scheme is the legal document that implements the provisions of these strategic land use plans. As new land use plans are written, the planning scheme is amended to reflect these plans.
Planning scheme amendments can be instigated by either the Minister for Planning, Council, or an applicant.
