Therefore, we have a total of 2577 km of local roads, which must be maintained to a safe and trafficable condition for the public. Approximately 180 bridges and major culverts on these local roads are also maintained by us.
As well as road assets, we also maintain an extensive network of concrete, paved and asphalted footpaths and bicycle paths.
The management of roads and infrastructure in the Glenelg Shire is undertaken jointly by the Assets Department and Glenelg Shire Council Assets & Works Unit.

An Asset Protection Permit is required prior to building works being undertaken to ensure no damage occurs to Council infrastructure.
A Works Within Road Reserve Permit must be obtained prior to any works being undertaken within Council road reserves.
