The local laws team is responsible for enforcing numerous Acts, including the General Local Law 2018 and its incorporated documents.
The Glenelg Shire is responsible for the implementation of several Acts and Laws, including Domestic Animals Act 1994, County Fire Authority Act 1958, Road Safety Act 1986 and Road Safety Road Rules 2009 and the Impounding of Livestock Act 1994. We are also responsible for enforcing the Glenelg Shire Council General Local Law 2018, including the regulation of Footpath Trading and Itinerant Traders policies.
There are various local and national regulations relating to animal ownership, including registration of domestic animals and livestock.
Grafitti Removal Kits are available from Customer Service Centres free of charge for community use to assist in the removal of Grafitti.
The Glenelg Shire Council has adopted the General Local Law 2018 at its meeting on 12 December 2017, and commenced on 1 February 2018.
Fire Prevention is everyone's responsibility. If you live inside the town boundary, you will need to apply for a Permit to Burn to light a fire.
Infringements may be issued due to a breach of local laws. A review of an Infringement notice can be requested, under certain circumstances.
