Local Laws

The local laws team is responsible for enforcing numerous Acts, including the General Local Law 2018 and its incorporated documents.

  • Fire Prevention 
  • Road Safety and Parking 
  • Footpath Trading
  • Itinerant Traders
  • Events on Council Managed Land
  • Parking and Road Safety Concerns

The Glenelg Shire is responsible for the implementation of several Acts and Laws, including Domestic Animals Act 1994,  County Fire Authority Act 1958, Road Safety Act 1986 and Road Safety Road Rules 2009 and the Impounding of Livestock Act 1994.   We are also responsible for enforcing the Glenelg Shire Council General Local Law 2018, including the regulation of Footpath Trading and Itinerant Traders policies
