Model Councillor Code of Conduct
This Model Councillor Code of Conduct (Model Code) which incorporates the statutory requirements specified for a Model Code of Conduct in accordance with Section 139 of the Local Government Act 2020 (“The Act”), became effective on 11 November 2024.
The Model Code is an agreed standard for Councillors about acceptable behaviour to help them deliver good governance with integrity, diligence and respect.
The Model Code:
- aims to foster good working relationships to enable Councillors to work together in the best interests of the local community; and
- sets out the standards of conduct required of Glenelg Shire's elected representatives to build and maintain public confidence in the integrity of Local Government.
Upon declaration, Councillors declared that they would abide by the Model Councillor Code of Conduct whilst taking the Oath of Office on Friday 11 November 2024.
