General Local Laws

The Glenelg Shire Council has adopted the General Local Law 2018, which consists of the following:

  • Part 2 – Environment
  • Part 3 – Animals
  • Part 4 – Roads and Council Land
  • Part 5 – Protection of Council Assets and Control of Building Sites
  • Part 6 – Administration
  • Part 7 – Enforcement

Infringements of the General Local Law 2018

Infringement Notices may be issued by Local Laws Officers for a range of offences, including breaches of Glenelg Shire Council General Local Law 2018.

Persons who receive an infringement may:

  • Pay the infringement
  • Refer the matter to the Glenelg Shire Council Review Panel if there are extenuating circumstances surrounding the issuing of the infringement. Please complete and return the Infringement Review Application Form
  • Have the matter referred directly to Court for consideration. This must be requested by contacting Council in writing.

Local Laws Permit

Complete the Local Laws Permit Application if you wish to apply for a; 

  • Local Law Permit (Other) (Schedule 8)
  • Permit to Camp on Private or Council Managed Land (Schedule 9)
  • Permit to Burn (Schedule 10)
  • Permit to Collect/Busk on Council-Owned or Managed Land (Schedule 13)
  • Permit to Cut & Collect Fodder on Road Reserves

 

Domestic Animal Permit

Complete the Domestic Animal Permit application if you wish to apply for; 

  • Permit for Excess Animals in Scheduled Areas and Non-Scheduled Areas (Schedule 21)
  • Permit for Other Animals in Scheduled Area (Schedule 22)
  • Permit to Conduct a Domestic Animal Business (Part 4, Div 1-3, Domestic Animals Act 1994)

  • Permit to Drove Livestock (Schedule 27)
  • Permit to Graze Livestock on Roads & Public Places (Schedule 28)
