The Glenelg Shire Council's Resource Recovery, Waste Minimisation and Management Strategy provides the strategic direction of Council's resource recovery and waste management. This Strategy is in line with both the Barwon South West Waste & Resource Recovery Group's Regional Implementation Plan and Sustainability Victoria's Statewide Waste and Resource Recovery Infrastructure Plan.
The strategy will assist Glenelg Shire Council to establish a framework for all waste collection, disposal and recycling operations in the Shire until 2024. It has a strong focus on waste avoidance, finding alternative markets for recyclable material such as cardboard, glass and organics, changing the way "waste" is managed.
