The Friends of the Great South West Walk January Walk 2024
Bridgewater Lakes / Blacks Beach Walk
Why don't you begin 2024 by joining the Friends Group on our January walk?
This beautiful twilight walk is in the Discovery Bay Coastal Park, starting and ending at the Bridgewater Lakes and walking via Black's Beach. No. 18 in the 'Short Walks On and Around the GSWW' guide book the walk is a gentle 4.2km.
The Bridgewater lakes are former lagoons, permanently cut off from the sea by an accumulation of sand built up over time.
This walk begins on the GSWW, skirts the serene and beautiful Bridgewater lakes, then traverses the length of a rarely visited Black's Beach via a sandy track through the dunes. It includes an 800 metre trek along a sandy beach with sublime views along the length of Cape Bridgewater.
On leaving the beach, walkers will head back through more dunes to meet up at the T Junction of the GSWW, then turn left, retracing the path back to the lakes
New walkers are always welcomed. If you like to join this walk, please register by Thursday 18 Jan, contacting Trish ph. 0400145220.
The Group meets ready to leave the Portland Information Centre at 3pm on Saturday 20th January. Some carpooling will be available. BYO Picnic Tea to share afterwards at the Bridgewater Lakes.
