Glenelg Shire Council has decided to defer one of its major events until next year.

Council resolved at the January monthly meeting to hold the next Glenelg Shire Business and Tourism Awards in August 2025.

The awards have normally been held every two years, and were due to be held in May 2024.

However, due to resourcing issues the decision was made to defer the event for a further 15 months.

Glenelg Shire Mayor Karen Stephens said the decision made sense.

“The Glenelg Shire Tourism and Business Awards are a fantastic event,” she said.

“They celebrate those who make things happen for our economy throughout the shire and to do those achievers justice, we need to be able to get the night right.

“By deferring the event until next year we will have the opportunity to do that.”
