Council’s community grants opening this month

Community groups, individuals and not-for profit organisations in the Glenelg Shire are invited to make their project a reality through Council’s Community Grants Program, which opens soon.

Round 1 of the 2026-27 Glenelg Shire’s Community Grants Program will open 9am Monday 27 July 2026 for a period of 2 weeks, closing 5pm Sunday 9 August 2026. 

The grant categories include:

• Recreation;
• Public halls;
• Community strengthening;
• Community events;
• Arts culture and heritage;
• Ageing well.

“We are incredibly proud of our Community Grants Program, which has helped hundreds of local not-for-profit groups, committees, clubs and organisations bring their ideas to life,” said Glenelg Shire Mayor Karen Stephens.

“Following Council's recent review of its Community Funding and Support Policy, we have increased funding across all grant categories to help community groups deliver even more.”

"The maximum grant amount is now $6,000 per financial year, the co-contribution threshold has increased to $1,500, and funding available to auspiced community groups has risen to $750.”

"We know these increases will make a real difference, helping local organisations deliver projects, events and initiatives that will make a lasting impact across the Glenelg Shire."

Applications can be completed and submitted online. Potential applicants are reminded to refer to the Community Grants Guidelines to assess their eligibility to apply.
