Glenelg Shire Councillor Chrissy Hawker has resigned from her position.

Cr Hawker tendered her immediate resignation from her role on Friday.

First elected as a Councillor in 2016, she was re-elected in the 2020 election.

Cr Hawker’s resignation creates a second extraordinary vacancy, following the resignation of Cr Jayden Smith last Wednesday, and Council has notified the Minister for Local Government and the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) as per the Local Government Act 2020.

The VEC will initiate a process to fill the vacancies.

Further details will be published on Council’s website as soon as they are available.
