Help shape the future of tourism in the Glenelg Shire
Published on 10 November 2025
Calling all tourism operators, business owners and locals alike – you are invited to be part of an exciting new chapter for Glenelg Shire as Council develops a new Tourism Strategy. Your voice is crucial.
Council is encouraging your ideas to help shape the development of a new Glenelg Shire Tourism Strategy. This work will help Council grow tourism, attract investment, improve visitor experiences and support sustainable development across the region.
Glenelg Shire Mayor Cr Karen Stephens said it was a fantastic opportunity for those in our community to share their ideas, stories and experiences on how the Glenelg Shire is positioned and promoted as a destination.
“Tourism is a major economic driver in the Glenelg Shire. We want to build on the diverse tourism experiences available to locals and visitors and there are lots of ways that you can have your say and help influence this Strategy,” she explained.
“You can take a quick survey from the comfort of home, post your thoughts on our online Ideas Boards, complete a hard copy survey from one of our Customer Service Centres or the Nelson Visitor Information Centre, or come along to a workshop and chat with our tourism team in person.
“Whether you’re passionate about our coastlines, proud of our vibrant communities, or keen to see more investment in local tourism, now’s your chance to get involved.”
You can drop into one of three workshops happening this month across the Shire to share insights directly with Council’s Tourism Team:
5.30pm – 7.30pm, Monday 17 November 2025
CFA Building
5.30pm – 7.30pm, Tuesday 18 November 2025
Casterton Town Hall
5.30pm – 7.30pm, Thursday 20 November 2025
Council Offices – Reception Room
Other ways to get involved:
In addition to attending a workshop, anyone can contribute by completing a short online survey or posting ideas on Council’s digital Ideas Boards.
Hard copies of the survey are available at all Customer Service Centres and the Nelson Visitor Information Centre.
Feedback closes 5pm, Wednesday 26 November 2025 but once the Strategy has been drafted there will be further opportunities to have Your Say.
