Glenelg Shire Council elections will take place in October 2024 and to support potential candidates, regional-based information sessions are being held in Warrnambool on 27 June and Geelong on 28 August respectively.

These sessions are being conducted by the Municipal Association of Victoria in partnership with Victorian councils, and can be attend in person or online.

The sessions are a great way to find out more about becoming a Councillor.

By attending one of these sessions, participants will be provided with information about:

• Local government and the important role councils play for our local communities

• The role and responsibility of a Councillor, Mayor, Deputy Mayor and CEO

• The election process and candidate requirements

• What newly elected Councillors can expect soon after the elections

• Councillor training and development opportunities.

Should you be unable to attend a session in person, a Microsoft Teams link will also be provided to enable you to view it without travelling.
