Live and Local returns this July
Published on 23 June 2026
Community members are invited to help celebrate the talent, creativity and achievements of our local youth this July.
Council’s free Live and Local event will return on Friday 10 July from 5pm at the Portland Yacht Club.
The evening will showcase the Glenelg Shire Youth School Holiday Program Life Hacks, with workshop participants preparing and serving food and drinks as they put their newly developed hospitality skills into action.
Live and Local will also shine a spotlight on emerging musical talent, with the return of the popular Battle of the Jams competition. Now in its second year, the competition gives young bands and solo performers the chance to compete for up to $900 in prizes.
Glenelg Shire Youth Development Officers Melissa Smith and Meghan Bennett encouraged community members of all ages to come along to the family friendly event.
“Whether you're a friend, a family member or simply keen to support local young people, we invite you to come along to Live and Local. Celebrate the achievements, connect with the community and enjoy a fantastic night of live entertainment.”
This year’s lineup features a diverse mix of styles and sounds, with performers including:
- Matilda Andrews
- Sneeze
- Concrete
- HPR
- Jenna Charman
- Grace Rosalee
- Imy Rose
- Kale Peggie
The evening will also be supporting local metal band Life of Tragedy.
Capacity is limited and registration is strongly encouraged. To register for your free ticket, visit the Glenelg Shire Youth Eventbrite.
Live and Local and the Life Hacks workshops are funded as part of the Engage! grant program and the Amplify grant program.
