Community grants

Have you, or your community group, received funding from Council to support a project or event? Do you have ideas on how the policy could better reflect community needs? Now is your chance to share your thoughts!

Council is reviewing the Community Funding and Support Policy, a key document which guides Council funding to not-for-profit organisations and individuals, including the popular Community Grants Program.

The draft Policy was reviewed and endorsed by Councillors for community consultation in December 2025, with several proposed updates, including:

  • Stronger focus on inclusion and diversity
  • Inclusion of the new Ageing Well grants category
  • Clearer eligibility for Committees of Management

Community members are now invited to provide feedback to ensure the proposed changes align with local expectations.

“Community groups are the lifeblood of the Glenelg Shire, and we are fortunate to have such a strong and diverse network of organisations that make our region a great place to live, work and play,” said Glenelg Shire Mayor Cr Karen Stephens.

“This Policy guides how we support community projects and the review aims to ensure a fair, equitable and inclusive approach. It also seeks to clarify some common misconceptions, such as eligibility for Committees of Management and insurance requirements.

“The review has been planned since 2025 and we are keen to hear the community’s views before we enter the 2026–27 grant funding cycle. Head over to the YourSay Glenelg website and share your thoughts.”

The Glenelg Shire Community Funding and Support Policy is open for feedback until 5pm, Thursday 26 March 2026 via the YourSay Glenelg website.
