The Glenelg Shire is celebrating another strong cruise ship season as a third vessel prepares to arrive in Portland next week.

Luxury cruise liner Seabourn Sojourn will dock at the Port of Portland on Wednesday 4 March from 10am, bringing more than 450 passengers to the region.

It marks the third cruise ship visit for the 2026 season, following earlier stopovers by the Seven Seas Explorer and Vasco Da Gama, which together welcomed around 1,800 passengers to Portland and the surrounding region.

“2026 is off to a flying start for the Glenelg Shire. Our summer cruise ship arrivals have provided an important economic boost for local traders and given us another valuable opportunity to showcase our beautiful region to national and international visitors,” said Glenelg Shire Mayor Cr Karen Stephens.

“Thank you to everyone in our community who helps make our cruise ship visits so successful. From the businesses who open their doors, to our market stallholders, shuttle bus hire companies, volunteers and many others. Each contribution plays an important role.

“Importantly, there’s still more visits on the horizon! We’re excited to welcome back a familiar favourite when the Seven Seas Explorer returns to Portland in December.

“The Seven Seas Explorer is one of the larger vessels we’ve hosted, boasting more than 1,000 passengers, and it always makes an impressive sight in the Port.”
